Window Treatments act as insulation. In the winter, heat escapes through the windows. During the summer, heat from the sun's rays increases the temperature inside. Energy-efficient windows PLUS energy-efficient window treatments is the best way to decrease heat loss and heat gain, and ultimately reduce your heating and cooling costs.

  • Save money on utility bills
  • Conserve natural resources
  • Lessen fading of carpets, fabrics, artwork, and wood

Some treatments are more energy efficient than others, so be sure to check a product's R-value and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) rating. R-value is a measure of a product's ability to resist heat flow (important in the cool winter). The higher the R-value, the more insulation it provides and the better it is a reducing heat loss.

Solar Heat Gain Coefficient is the amount of solar heat that passes through the window (cools house in warm summer). The lower the SHGC, the less solar heat it transmits.

UV exposure can damage furnishings, floors and fine art. The higher the UV protection, the more UV rays are filtered.

To save energy:

¥ Insulate Against Cold
¥ Reduce Solar Heat Gain
