- Shred all sensitive documents
- Collect mail daily
- Don’t give personal information to anyone who calls you
- Never write down or tell you PIN
- Change the PIN on your banking cards often
- Do not choose “remember me” for banking cards
- Your bank will not email you asking to confirm account information
- Passwords should be 7+ characters using letters, numbers, and symbols
- Don’t buy anything on-line unless secured with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
- Secure your wireless network
- Avoid entering confidential information on public computers in a hotel, café, airport lounge, or school
- Ask a public establishment what their wireless network name is
- In public, turn down the brightness of your screen and reduce font size
